Anxiety counselling Lower Hutt
Anxiety is a feeling that everyone can experience from time to time. It is a feeling of worry and fear.
Anxiety is a response to fear, this can be a real fear, an imagined fear or a fear of our feelings. When we experience anxiety our body is preparing us to fight or run away and adrenaline is produced which is what causes the symptoms.
Experiencing anxiety can be very frightening and you may experience a lot of disturbing symptoms.
Symptoms of anxiety
Symptoms of anxiety include:
✓ irritable
✓ dry mouth
✓ feeling detached from the world
✓ palpitations
✓ panic attacks
✓ shortness of breath
✓ sweating
✓ unable to concentrate
It is usual to experience a little of these symptoms when we find ourselves in stressful situations, such as an interview or exam. As soon as it’s over the symptoms pass. However, for some people the symptoms of anxiety are present more often.
I can help you understand the bodies reaction to stress and give practical advice on how to manage and reduce the symptoms. I will also help you to explore and understand where the stress has come from which can help to understand what triggers the anxiety.
